Erickson Defense InitiativeBased on Article 2 of "The Bill of Rights". To resolve the dilemma of our over extended military resources globally, the following measures should be implemented: - Domestic National Guard units should be considered state militias under the sole authority of the respective governor, and state legislature thereof.
- All Federal military bases become the property and responsibility of the resident state.
- Each State will staff, equip, and maintain an active Militia, as well as a reserve Militia.
- Each State will have a "Rapid Deployment Special Forces Unit" with logistical support for repelling enemy forces. This unit will be at a constant state of readiness, and coordinated with anti-missile, and anti-aircraft defense units.
- All overseas bases will be closed. With all equipment, and personnel to be apportioned to the respective states in an orderly uniformed basis.
- All border states will maintain border security camps extended at intervals along their respective borders. They will use reserve Militia on a rotation basis. They will be coordinated with, and cooperate with the respective county Militias and county Law Enforcement.
- All active military will have the option to transfer to their State Militias as active or reserve, upon State review and assessment.
- Coastal States will maintain air, sea, and amphibious Militias.
- Coastal and States bordering foreign nations, will be supported proportionately by inland states. Ie. Fair share contribution.
- All treaties between the States will be agreed upon by the legislatures of the several states only.
- Any State Militia forces needed to train and support foreign allies will do so only by limited contract between the State(s) with the foreign entity on a cost-plus basis, subject to the limitations agreed upon between the States.
- To encourage American industry, all weapons, equipment, and supplies will be only of American manufacture and origin.
